
Glasgow's Greater Lanarkshire Auricular Research Council, or GLARC for short, have been producing rigorous cassette-based periodicals for 10 years now. Acting as a springboard for the dazzling academic careers of such luminaries as Still House Plants, Quinie, Able Noise, Max Syedtollan and Han, among others, they pride themselves on producing high impact globally distributed research output. As part of their 10 year anniversary with a two day series of concerts in Cafe Oto on 12th and 13th of March they are also coming to Spanners with a plenary of dazzling club time researchers:\\n\\n100% Positive Feedback: One half of the hyped glassy body music duo Modern Institute, one third of dadaist noise unit L (see GLARC 0000000000000000000026), one one of his DJ moniker 100% Positive Feedback, Laurie Pitt has eclecticism built into his musical practice. As his regular Clyde Built Radio show attests, he will comes to Spanners with a collection of collection of heartwarming oddities and stressfully relentless fast music.\\n\\nHan aka Boosterhooch: Han Read is a part-time noisemaker, part-time healthcare worker, part-time runner of the inimitable Events Research Programme institution (a monthly subscription-based events series), part-time recipient of the title of Scotland's “most successful cash-in-hand DJ”. She lives in Glasgow. With her first release, GLARC 00000000000000000000000000000016, she materialised the audio output of a fictitious institute of ecoterrorism with its unearthly hold music and cautionary reminders to make time to lie flat. Since then she has released a fantastically sludgy mixtape of original work on Trilogy Tapes alongside a slew of singles across various cassette compilations. As Boosterhooch she has played across the UK including at Spanners on an unforgettable Plastic Village night a few years ago. \\n\\nFuxit: Mariella Verkerk is Fuxit, a wonderful ceramicist who plays parties in their spare time.\\nThey contributed the first in a potential series of mixtapes for the label, GLARCMIX0000000000000000000000000001, a collection of celebratory and frenetic hardcore, donk, ceilidhdoofers and speedmusic. Expect the unexpected, inspect the critically underinspected and accept no exceptions except in exceptional circumstances.\\n\\nBrunnera: Brunnera is Gordon Bruce. He makes whimsical\\nspeedcore, music which foregrounds melody and weaves it through snaking\\npolyrhythms to create a propulsive sound described as a “brilliant volley of hyper-pastoral braindance” (Boomkat). With releases on NX records, Peder Mannerfelt Produktions, and a forthcoming album on Kit Records, he comes to Spanners with a collection of new productions and some other weird stuff.\\n\\n\\n\\n
