A rare meeting of worlds, this live performance brings together Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė and Shahzad Ismaily, weaving ethereal, folk-infused voice and kanklės with daring, genre-defying improvisation into a deeply listening, present-moment sonic journey bridging age-old folk traditions and experimental sound.\\n\\nIndrė Jurgelevičiūtė is a Lithuanian singer, kanklės (Baltic psaltery) player and composer who creates otherworldly soundscapes, weaving together ambient textures, echoes of Lithuanian folk songs, and electronic elements. Her music drifts between the intimate and the ethereal, inviting listeners into a space that feels both ancient and timeless.\\n\\nOften performing solo or as part of Merope—her long-standing collaboration with Belgian guitarist and electronic artist Bert Cools—Indrė creates sonic landscapes rooted in folklore while drifting into imaginary worlds, exploring themes of nature, mythology and transformation. Merope's latest album, Vėjula, released on Stroom and granvat, has been described as "stylistically fluid and carrying transcendent allure.”\\n\\nIndrė’s creative reach extends through collaborations with artists such as Shahzad Ismaily, Laraaji, Jessika Kenney, Gyða Valtýsdóttir and Solo Cissokho. She also composes for theatre and film.\\n\\nShahzad Ismaily is a versatile, primarily self-taught American multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer known for his deep intuition and work across rock, jazz, and experimental music, often blending global sounds from his Pakistani heritage and extensive travels. Born in Pennsylvania, he plays bass, guitar, synths, drums, and more, collaborating with major artists like Yoko Ono, Laurie Anderson, Damien Rice, and Arooj Aftab, and co-leading bands like Ceramic Dog. He runs Figure8 Studios in Brooklyn and scores films, including Frozen River.
