7:00 PM EDT – 2:00 AM
Where
Avalon Cafe
Juno Wy., London SE14 5RZ, UK

About this event

\\nOOX is a club night that explores disco and boogie music from across the world.\\n\\nScreen Share is a digital inclusion charity for refugees in the UK, providing access to digital devices such as laptops and phones, digital skills training and internet connectivity to those seeking sanctuary. In an increasingly digital-first society, this support is essential. It allows their clients to navigate the challenges of the UK asylum system, tackles isolation, promotes access to services and support and helps people reach their goals in education and employment.\\n\\nOOX and Screen Share are joining together for a summer party at Avalon Cafe, a DIY multi-arts venue in South London. The night is an opportunity for our communities to come together and celebrate the transformational impact that Screen Share has had on thousands of people's lives, whilst (hopefully) raising some funds so they can have an impact on thousands more!\\n\\nThe night will be opened by two brilliant artists who have graduated from the Our HeartBeats programme (teaching DJ skills to those with lived experience of the asylum system). \\n\\nDJ Buay is a South Sudanese DJ based in London. He draws across Sudanese sounds, Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afro house, blending them into dynamic, rhythmic sets that centre community, movement and connection. \\n\\nDIMV is a Russian-born, London-based DJ whose sets are a form of self-expression - using music to tell stories shaped by migration, queerness and curiosity. \\n\\nProceeds will be donated to Screen Share to continue delivering this invaluable support.\\n\\nPlease consider buying an Enhanced Donation Ticket if you have the means to do so. The additional cost is enough to fund the refurbishment of one laptop. Each enhanced donation ticket sold means one more refugee provided with the tools they need to rebuild their life.\\n\\nIf the enhanced is too far a stretch, pair up with a buddy to each buy the donation ticket. This way, your combined ticket costs will pay for the refurbishment of one device.\\n\\nWe also offer free/discounted tickets to those who are unemployed or have limited funds. Please email hamish@ooxmusic.com to request one of these. We will be happy to help!\\n\\nIf you are unable to come but would like to support the charity, please visit Screen Share's website, where you can find more details about volunteering and fundraising and donation opportunities.\\n\\nWe are so excited for this special community dance. We hope to see many of you there!\\n\\nBig love,\\nHamish OOX and the Screen Share team x
